5 active games for rainy days

As a mom to 4 boys (yes, that’s 4!), I dread bad weather.

See, life is pretty great when my kids can run around outside, play basketball, chase play with the dog or ride bikes.

Keep your kids active and busy even on rainy days with the Wobbly Worm game.

But it’s those rainy afternoons that really stretch my patience.

Kids need to move!

Disclosure: Thanks so much to Spin Master for sponsoring this post and keeping my kids active!

And if they don’t get that movement, my kids usually resort to crankiness or sibling squabbles. Or they want to veg out in front of the TV.

I don’t mind a little screen time (so maybe during the Great Blizzard of 2017 it was more like 2 days of screen time!). But everyone is a lot happier when the younger ones are on their feet and busy.

If the weather is bad, you just have to get a little creative with that activity!

Here are 5 fun games to play indoors that’ll keep your kids moving and having fun:

1. Indoor racetrack.

Grab all the matchbox cars in the house and some tape and make a racetrack. Use masking tape or painter’s tape to mark off roads.

Set up ramps made from books and flattened cardboard boxes.

Scavenge an oatmeal container to make a tunnel.

Easy peasy!

2. Throw a sheet over the kitchen table to make a fort.

If your kids are like mine, they’ll be busy under there with dart guns and snacks for a good hour!

Or maybe your kids would rather bring books and pillows into the fort for some cozy reading time.

3. Balloon volleyball.

Grab some balloons, space your kids a few feet apart and see how many hits they can get before the balloon hits the ground.

Add some upbeat music for extra fun.

4. Hide and seek

This is a classic but it’s so much fun! My kids always play hide and seek when friends are over. The former homeschool mom in me encourages counting by 2’s, 5’s and 10’s. 🙂

5. Wobbly Worm game

We recently got a chance to try out the new Wobbly Worm game by Spin Master.

It’s a funny game that challenges kids to toss rings over the head of a wobbling worm.

My youngest son got a little silly while playing with the game and I captured it on video for you. We’re just keepin’ it real 🙂
